Going Up! Elisah Otis's Trip to the Top by Monica Kulling is a book about the life of the inventor of the passenger elevator.
This biography was interesting, we both enjoyed it. Reading about Otis and his frustrations and failures along the way, along with his family life. This wasn't a title we would have searched for, but we are both glad we did read it.
This book is the fourth book in a series from Tundra Books called Great Idea Series.
"In 1857, Elisha Otis installed his first successful passenger elevator in the E.V. Haughwout Building, a five-storey department store at the corner of Broome Street and Broaway, in New York City. Otis's original elevator still works today, taking people up and down."
