We have been home schooling full-time for four years but it will be coming to an end very soon. I am planning on continuing to be a part of their education by "after-schooling" the children and most of all, I am hoping that they will make a smooth transition into the public school system.
We have all agreed that if the public school system doesn't work out, that home schooling will still be available for them next school year.
I have enjoyed keeping this blog of our homeschooling adventures and I wish to continue on, even if it is just of our learning together or of our family's adventures. Hope you will come and visit us still! I would love to hear comments from families that might have gone through a change like this...

I will definitely still come and visit you.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry it's worked out this way, but each of us makes decisions that are best for our families, regardless of what others might do. If you've thought long and hard about this (I'm sure you have), I hope you don't carry too much guilt over your decision.
ReplyDeleteJust think - your kids have the benefit of a strong foundation in homeschooling before they join the ranks in public school. That might drastically change their outlook, and really give them an advantage over their peers.
Good for you for keeping your options open. Feel free to email me if you want to chat. I mean that :)
Great comment Heather! You have had a hard decision to make Alex, I have ben thinking of you all the last few days. Stay positive, things will work out fine I am sure. Like you said, if it does not go well at school, home schooling is always there. DOn't be too hard on yourself :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jacqueline, Heather and Carol. It was a very difficult decision to make, but I am staying positive. My children are wanting to check it out and are quite excited about this! We'll see how it goes...I will keep on posting!
ReplyDeleteLove the new changes to your blog!! Did you take the picture for the new title? Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteYes I took the picture at Point Pelee...
ReplyDeleteHey, I followed a link over here from Tanya's book blog and enjoyed your writing. We're also a Canadian family with two girls and a boy, although this fall we just started homeschooling for the first time. I suppose we'll be in your situation at some point -- or at least deciding every summer whether to continue the homeschooling. It's been going well, but it's certainly not easy.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Jeremy
