52 books :: Shiver

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is one of those books that I noticed whenever I was at the library or at a bookstore in the young adult section. I was curious and so decided to give it a try. It is another werewolf and girl love story, without vampires this time. It seemed to start really slowly and I had to tell myself a few times to just keep on going. By the second half of the book, I was curious to see how it would end. I really enjoyed the writing and especially the way the author describes the surroundings and the emotions in her book.

From the author's website:
"For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human... until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever."

I enjoyed watching this little book trailer the author created out of cut paper:
