Exploring PEI :: Green Gables

We read Anne of Green Gables this past winter, as soon as we found out we were moving to PEI! I had read it and watched the movies years ago. Reading it aloud to my children was a lot of fun.

Visiting Green Gables, the Haunted Wood and Lover's Lane were high on our to-do list. We decided to go this past week before the tourist season started. We practically had the place to ourselves! The downside was that there were no special programs or presentations.

The house and the gardens around it are part of L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish National Historic Site of Canada and are very well preserved. I thought the details in Anne's room were perfect.

We loved the trails, we walked both the Haunted Wood Trail and the Balsam Hollow Trail, which includes Lover's Lane.

I could share many photos of the trails, maybe I will do a separate post with all the nature photos I took! I love wild flowers.

I almost had to beg my kids to stand there, with the buggy in front of Green Gables. The two oldest are really not into having their photo taken right now, I must have used up all my allowance with them when they were younger...

My own little Anne, trying the red braids and hat in the gift store. She is a free wild spirit and talks all the time, very much like Anne!

  1. This is so cute and I am jealous...green with envy. My kids love this tale and I would enjoy walking these trails and through this house with them. Thanks for sharing!
