Our home is on the beautiful Prince Edward Island in Canada. Prince Edward Island, PEI for short, is part of the Maritime Provinces. The Island is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It is East of New Brunswick and North of Nova Scotia. The closest American State is Maine, but not that close, it is 530 miles to Portland, Maine.
We moved here at the end of May 2012. We had been homeschooling since 2005 in Ontario, but with the move came big changes and struggles in my marriage. I have been thinking of stopping homeschooling and enrolling the children in the public school system. The schools we visited are much smaller than in Ontario. My oldest daughter, who will turn 15 next month, will be attending grade 10 in the fall, this was decided before we moved. My son, 13, will be going to junior high (grade 8) in public school, and the youngest (8) will be in grade 3.
I chose to start a new blog since we are starting a new phase in our lives. This blog will be mainly to highlight our lives for our friends and family. I will be sharing our discoveries of the island. We love exploring!
This blog will be a family blog, so I will share a bit of the children's activities, their school experiences, children books, nature study, cooking, etc...pretty much everything I would have written at Canadian Home Learning, without the homeschooling part.

ReplyDeleteThough I haven't been in your shoes, my guess is it is probably more difficult to make the decision to stop homeschooling than it was to start. I continue to hope that someday we'll get to meet in person. Until then, I wish you all the best. Big Hugs!! :)
