I like choosing a word for each year. A word to focus on throughout the year can at times be simpler and easier than a long list of resolutions. I do like to give myself goals, but I tend to stay away from resolutions.
2013 is now here. We have said goodbye to 2012 and all its adventures. Adventure was my word for 2012, it fitted well!
My word for 2013 is LOVE. Love includes so much, doesn't it?

* Love your partner
* Love your children
* Love your pets
* Love others (even if it is just with a simple smile)
* Love animals
* Love the Earth
* Love your Life!
I really like this version of the famous song "All You Need is Love". I also like the "Love Actually" version.
I highly recommend the free download from Susannah Conway "Unravelling the Year Ahead 2013". It's been a great tool.
