2014 on the Island :: Ice Sculptures

2014 on Prince Edward Island is going to be a big year! It marks the Sesquicentennial of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference. There will be lots of events on our little island this year! You can check out details here.

For the New Year's Celebration, ice sculptures were created on Great George Street. My husband and I walked there today to see their progress. It was so cold (-24 Celsius with the wind chill!) but we enjoyed looking at these gorgeous sculptures.

Some sculptures were still being built. Amazing to see all of these!

The details on the fox were amazing!
Still working on some!

A lighthouse!

Province House

The start of an airplane for flypei!

I am hoping these beautiful ice sculptures will stay for a few days so we could enjoy seeing them again!

There are many celebrations planned for the island in 2014. We are so happy to have PEI as our home! I will share the events we attend with you. Check out the PEI 2014 website for more information, it will be a great year to visit PEI! There's even a great theme song "Forever Strong":
