Arrow Book Club Party ~ Poppy by Avi

Last month, Celeste and I read Poppy by Avi for our language arts program Arrow from Brave Writer. Through Periscope and the BraveScopes Facebook group, I learned about Arrow book club parties. In particular, Mary from Not Before 7 inspired me to jump in and do a book club party for Poppy. Our friends, who also follow the Arrow Brave Writer program, came over for the celebration!

It was a lot of fun for Celeste and I to prepare for this. We both agreed that we wanted to do more of these parties!

We had a few activities planned, some tasty snacks and we set up Celeste's tea set with a few things like rocks, feathers, and sticks from our nature collections. We also had turned down the heat and put on some nature sounds for background music.

One of the literature games we made up:
matching characters with their quotes.

The girls drew a map of the Dimwood Region.
Celeste then asked questions related to locations in the story.

I did a quick Periscipe broadcast which you can watch it below or go to katch.me/lifeonisland . It is a little tour before our guests had arrived.

Guides for the language arts program The Arrow can be found at the Brave Writer shop. Arrow guides offer grammar, literary elements study, grammar, copywork or dictation, and writing exercises.
